Acupuncture, anyone? October 23, 2007

It’s not an invitation - I’m hoping one of you in the Twin Cities happens to know of a clinic or clinician (particularly for fibromyalgia would be nice). I would love a good referral, since this isn’t something I trust to just anybody.

Thanks in advance!

Wha? October 15, 2007

So I just got off the phone with a potential paramour:

- He’s worried that if a democrat takes the presidency, we won’t have troop withdrawl (I’m positive this is what he thinks as we discussed it at length)

- Same-sex marriage should remain illegal because we do not have the judicial/legal resources to handle the increased divorces that would result

- A man’s permission is necessary for an abortion

I don’t know if my head is pounding due to a sinus infection or the cognitive dissonance.  However, I can say it’s pretty likely we won’t go on a date.

Isn’t he cute? October 4, 2007

He’s 2 months old today.

And he’s been distracting me from the Harmony needles, which I love and will dedicate a whole post to sometime later.

Living in perfect Harmony September 8, 2007

I have so much blogging to do - my visits to the Minnesota State Fair (including working the Knitter’s Guild booth and eating a massive amount of food), a trip to see my nephew, all kinds of other stuff.

But I’m home sick – I have strep, and I’ve only been awake for probably 20 hours since Wednesday evening. I can’t swallow, so there’s not much eating to be done, and I’m dizzy and achy so knitting isn’t really working for me either. But online shopping – that I seem to be able to handle.

Did you see the new Harmony KnitPicks Options needles? Well’ I’ve ordered a set already. Go look…

Did you order some for yourself? Aren’t they pretty? You probably just ordered one to see what you think of them, right? Not a whole set because that would be crazy…<eye roll>.

Actually, KnitPicks once again addresses a need that I’ve yet to verbalize - I hate most of my needles. Primarily a circ user, any straight needles are completely useless to me. As a loose knitter, Addi Turbos have no draw (unless I want to be cursing while I’ve dropped stitches yet again).

I have several Clover bamboos - they were pretty much the only wood-like circs available in St. Louis. (Is bamboo wood?) I’d file down the points for lace, and steam the hell out of the cord to try to straighten it.

I’ll let you know what I think of these when they arrive. (I probably should have paid for expedited shipping - I’m not very patient.)

With this loop of yarn, I thee join August 22, 2007

Though these methods from Knitpicks are for joining different-color yarns, I think many of them would work well when adding a new ball in the middle of your work. I haven’t been able to use the spit-join in recent projects, and I’ve tried using EZ’s method (go ahead and shoot me down now) but I don’t love it.

Oh, how we change (or, just me) August 19, 2007

Maybe I’ve actually turned into a Knitter (capital-K). Let me tell you a little story about this weekend.

Playing poker with some friends, about one hour into the evening, I discretely pull out my knitting and start to knit with my hands near my lap, and yarn mysteriously coming from my purse. Why can’t I just break it out for everyone to see? Poker would be a knitting-friendly activity, right? I can only go so long until I need to multi-task.

Everyone was fine with the knitting - until they found out WHAT I was knitting.

dishcloth 1 and 2

One asked me if I was knitting a sweater. (He’s a guy. One of those flannel-wearing ones. I don’t expect him to understand.) When I said no, I was knitting a dishcloth; looks of shock and bewilderment prevailed. “I didn’t even know you could knit a dishcloth!” “What will you use it for?” “You won’t really use it, will you?”

Should I think knitting and using a knitted dishcloth is crazy?

Well, the rest of my crafting this weekend was crazy, for me. I don’t know what in the hell I’m going to do with this when it’s complete. The last time I finished one of these, I believe in 1982, it was matted and framed.

I’m fine. August 1, 2007

Nowhere near the bridge. It didn’t occur to me to turn off my cell to keep the lines free for emergency calls, but my dad couldn’t get through for a couple of hours anyway.

And the baby fun begins! July 18, 2007

My first article of clothing is started for the new nephew - who within a few short weeks will likely escape his fate of a trip through an undialated cervix, with a layover in a narrow birth canal. (I don’t talk about my own vagina, but apparently my sister’s is fair game). In the theme of slightly disgusting entrances into the new world, I’m making a celery-green umbilical-cord hat from SnB.

The picture is (as always) crap, but look at the pretty color varigation! What, you can’t tell? There’s a weird shadow?

I could knit exclusively with Malabrigio, and be a happy girl.

A brief respite for charity July 8, 2007

Long time, no see, huh?

This is keeping me both busy and exhausted. Moving is hard on everybody, and I’m not in the best shape of my life, but damn. Every muscle in my body hurts more than they do every other day.

Boxes

Instead of me continuing to whine, please focus your attention on these projects that are worth your time and money.

1. Boob-ha-ha (I’ll never tire of saying that in my head and I’ve made up a little ditty for it, too). I’m hesitant to mention this, since I know someone will try to outbid me on it. The artist’s light captured in a still frame is nothing less than breathtaking. (Fuck - the pain pill is obviously affecting my tenuous grasp of the English language.) Pop on over there and bid on something that catches your eye. Bidding starts tomorrow.

2. WISH washcloths. I’ve been looking for contact paper for the last week, and in desperation went to Wuh-Mart (still didn’t find any). A few bucks later, and I have enough for several. I think Rabbitch’s goal is a little modest…

Obviously, my blog namesake has come to pass. Apparently I’ll need to move on to other mediums of Veronica Mars [via Pop Candy].
